Here we go again!

As a result of the clubs decision to seek promotion this season further development of the ground is planned for the coming weeks.

To ensure we have the best possible chance of meeting the ground grading criteria for the Evo-Stick League the following activities will be taking place;

1) Repairs to the pitch perimeter
2) Modifications to the Surrey St boundary wall
3) Installation of a back section on the Surrey St covered stand
4) Modifications to the covered seating
5) Installation of 'press' facilities
6) Upgrading the First Aid facilities
7) Upgrading the hygiene facilities in public areas

The majority of the work is planned for the 10 day window we have following the home game with Alsager on Saturday the 18th of February.

Almost there

Saturday saw the 1st home game of the 2011-12 season and Glossop North End supporters got the chance to see their new facilities at first hand.

Whilst there are still a few tasks to be completed the majority of the work has been completed, a great achievement in just 12 weeks.

Below are a few photo's but the best way to appreciate the work is to come down to Surrey Street and see it for yourself.

The Clubhouse gets a roof!

6 weeks into the project and the clubhouse now has a roof as well as roller shutters. The installation of the electrics and plumbing is now underway.

Work is also continuing on the changing rooms.

In addition to the building work the pitch renovation is almost complete, the walkway behind the top goal has been moved back and the land behind the goal has been completely levelled and seeded.

New Surrey Street Stand is complete!

Glossop North Ends new Surrey Street stand is now complete.

More good news is the fact that, despite the extra groundwork that had to be carried out and the delays caused by the weather, the project came in on budget.

Pictured above with the stand are Development Team Members Stewart Taylor and Neil Rimmer.

The next stage of the development is to install new access gates and to move the turnstiles further up Surrey Street. All the materials for this next step have been kindly donated by Spire Construction (NW) Ltd. and Travis Perkins.

New Surrey Street stand rises above the weather!

Despite the weather Gods being against the building of the new stand from Day 1, work is progressing nicely. Many thanks to everyone who has got themselves bitterly cold in the development cause these past few weeks!

Piling work begins

Despite the best attempts of the Glossop weather, piling has begun for the new Surrey Street stand. The work is expected to be completed by the end of the week after which the concrete base can be laid.

Although the steelwork is already on site it needs fabricating and there are a few items still awaiting delivery.

We are still confident of having the stand finished in time for the next home league game, which is Colne on the 27th of this month.
